What I’ve been up to

Hannah Rose Tristram has been singing, song-collecting and performing around the world from the age of ten, with world music choirs Village Harmony and Northern Harmony. She trained in Actor Musicianship at Rose Bruford College, and has participated in a wide range of amateur and professional theatre productions, both as performer and as Musical Director.

Since training with Frankie Armstrong in April 2008, she has enjoyed working closely alongside her, at vocal events across Wales, France, London and Sussex. Regular groups she has led in song include:- The Breath of Life Singers in West Sussex, andWorld Music Chorus, Free Your Voice, Vocal Workshop and The Wilful Choir in London. She runs vocal workshops wherever opportunity arises, with previous work including Unicorn Natural Voice Camp, I Am Joy Arts Festival, various primary and secondary schools, Jellyroll Saturday School, Kingston Adult Education, Chichester Festival Youth Theatre and Royal Brompton Hospital's 'Singing For Breathing' project.

Hannah is a multi-instrumentalist, working and playing as an accordionist, flautist, singer and poet. Hannah also has musical skills with harp, guitar, recorder, percussion, music theory and composition.

Hannah is currently undertaking a degree in Music and Dance at Kingston University. Dance and movement are an important part of Hannah's approach to voice work. She has a wide range of movement experience, in genres including belly dance, circle dance, flamenco, morris, bharatanatyam, ballet, international folk dance, african dance, choreography, improvisation, contact improvisation, wushu, capoeira, yoga, urban, contemporary, salsa, tango, Alexander technique, Chantraine, Authentic Movement, physical theatre and various healing arts.

Individual Voice Sessions:

Hannah’s Individual Voice Sessions last an hour and a half and cost thirty to forty pounds, depending on the financial situation of the client and what seems appropriate. They usually include:-

~Tuning into, loosening up and warming up the instrument of the voice – the body.
~Developing awareness, relaxation and use of the mouth, tongue, jaw and throat.
~Exploration of different areas of physical resonance, and a variety of timbres and styles.
~Individual attention on you as a singer, from somebody with an open mind and skilled ears.
~A chance to sing what you would like to sing, and have feedback.
~Detailed notes of the activities explored, following the session.
~A non-judgemental atmosphere in which to discover, with careful guidance.
