Kay Barrett

About Kay

Kay lives in Girton, Cambridge. She has enjoyed singing for as long as she can remember. She is a qualified teacher and amongst other things has worked as a counsellor and facilitated training for groups of adults.

In September 2002 she attended Frankie Armstrong’s Natural Voice training. Kay is currently involved in a variety of voice projects and groups, and also gives one-to-one lessons. She is married to Dave and has three children. The family has two dogs and in her spare time (!) she takes on dog-minding duties.

Let Your Voice out to Play

A drop-in session held twice a month on Wednesday evenings in term time. Venue: St Andrew’s Church, Girton, Cambridge time: 8.15 - 9.45. Cost £5 per session, £3 concessions. (Disabled Access).

Explore your voice through gentle physical and vocal warm ups, leading into songs from a variety of cultures. This is a small, friendly group. No previous musical experience is necessary, as everything is taught by ear.
The emphasis is on fun!

Open Your Voice

Occasional one-day ‘retreat-style’ workshops held in a relaxed, homeley environment. The opportunity to get to know your voice more deeply, learn some uplifting songs, and spend a day with like-minded people. The shared lunch (and the relaxation afterwards) are always a highlight!
Feedback from a recent group member:

‘ just wanted to say a huge thank you - your class was fantastic - I felt
so invigorated after the class - you have a brilliant way of encouraging
everyone to feel safe and have a great laugh too!’

One-to-one Lessons

Available by arrangement with Kay. Usually £25 per hour. Gift vouchers for birthday and Christmas presents, promises auctions etc. are also available.

Kay is available, by arrangement, to lead ongoing or one-off voice sessions.
