Slovenia Singing week: Zrece, Bled, Bohinj and Ljubljana in Slovenia, 23 May 2013
Join a performance project & cultural exchange in Sedbergh's twin town Zrece with visits to singers in other parts of Slovenia - including Ljubljana, Bled and the Bohinj wild flower festival. Half board accommodation with meals, workshops, concerts, ceilidhs, learning CD & transport in Slovenia. Cheap flights available with Wizzair from Luton to Ljubljana on May 23.

Sing Sure Community Choirs and Dover Singing for Breathing Spring Performance: Sheerness East Working Men's Club, 47 Queenborough Road, Sheerness, Kent, ME12 3BZ, 23 May 2013
A fun, social evening of combined choir singing interspersed with individual entertainers. This is an American Supper style evening so bring your own food! All drinks at bar. Free admission but there will be a raffle and opportunity to make a donation with proceeds divided equally between "Together" a charity for people with mental health needs and the Sing Sure Choirs.

The Healing Power of Vocal Sound: The Holy Isle, Samye Ling Centre, off Aran Island, 24 May 2013
James will draw upon the following various categories of soundwork for his workshop:
- Toning the chakras with vowels, consonants and seed syllables East (Tantra Yoga) and West;
- Ritualising natural sounds for emotional release including humming, laughter, keening, groaning and sighing;
- Working with the Taoist healing sounds for the organs of the body;
- Mantra and chanting;
- Listening to Biosonic tuning forks for the harmonising of the cells and nervous system.
As this is a residential, these categories will all be given more depth. Some of the soundwork is accompanied by simple movements to encourage and direct the sound. No experience necessary, only the intent for spiritual transformation.

The Whitsun Voice Camp: Whitchurch Canonicorum, Dorset, 24 May 2013

An exhilarating day of harmony singing for anyone who wants to sing — whether you think you can or not! Taught by Chris Rowbury in his inimitable style using humour, fun and a (very bendy) rod of iron! Learn a range of songs from around the world, in the original languages, in glorious unaccompanied harmony: African, gospel, Eastern European, New Zealand maori and more. Everything will be taught by ear (no need to read music!). No previous experience needed — just bring yourself and have a go. Whether you've only ever sung in the shower, or you're already in a choir, there will be something here for everyone — all in a fun, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. You'll be amazed at the sound we create together and a recording of the workshop will be made available free afterwards to remind you of the day.

The Cotelands Croydon Lullaby
The words and tune for this song were written by the young mums (age 14-16yrs) as part of CRISP's Positive Activities for Young People project with teenage mums and mums-to-be.
Teenage mums get a bad reputation in the UK but this wonderful specialist Pupil Referral Unit has places for 40 babies, and most mums become responsible mothers, retaining care of their infants and going on to achieve well educationally.
