A morning of tantalizing melodies, crunchy harmonies and fiendish rhythms. This Jazz and Swing Harmonies workshop is inspired by the complex, close harmonies found in British and American popular songs from the 1920s, 30s and 40s. In these half day workshops, we’ll concentrate on short songs and short sections from longer songs; they could be jazz standards, unexpected songs that have been given the jazz or swing treatment or songs that have been created purely for these workshops. Some of the melodies may be familiar and therefore fairly quick to pick up, the harmony parts will be varied, with some parts offering a challenge even to experienced acapella singers.
We shall be singing in a lovely, circular chapel that offers a peaceful, spiritual oasis within a modern office block in the heart of Manchester city centre. Singing for Larks only uses venues that are accessible to disabled people.
There are several car parks in the city centre, however the easiest way to get to this venue is usually by public transport, with bus stops and Metrolink and railway stations within 5 – 15 minutes walk.
