Join us for a weekend in Anne and Natasha Hood’s beautiful walled garden and country house in North Norfolk near the sea where David Burbidge will be teaching new songs, and revising old ones, both inside and out. The songs will reflect the joys of summer and country life, from the UK and beyond.
David Burbidge lives on the banks of the river Clough in the Yorkshire Dales, has led community choirs and harmony singing workshops in the north of England, Scotland and Slovenia for over 30 years. He teaches by ear, by “call and response” and includes many interesting and amusing tales from a long life of long distance walking, harmony singing, and fierce devotion to the value of community, nature, and the stillness at the centre of everyone and everything.
He is inspired by the Slovenian poet Ivan Minatti whose definitive work Nekoga Moras imeti Rad (you must love someone) says:
“O grass, river, tree, stone, Silent companions of the strange and lonely,
Good, great beings who begin to speak
Only when humans have fallen silent.”
