Forget-me-not Singing Club

Description

What is it?

The Forget-me-not Singing Club is primarily aimed at people living with dementia and their friends, but anyone else who just fancies a good sing on a Friday afternoon would also be very welcome to join us!

Songs will be from a range of genres and eras – folk songs, pop/rock songs, songs from films and even from our school days. I’ll see what people enjoy most and adjust as we go. We’ll also follow the seasons and come up with some special songs to sing around Christmas.

The singing will be fun and friendly and there’s no need to worry if you think you are not much of a singer, or a bit rusty – all voices are welcome!

(I am also looking for a couple of people to help me during the sessions with things like handing out song sheets and making tea. If you would be willing to help, please let me know!)

Date and time:

We’ll be meeting at 2pm for about an hour and a half every Friday (with short breaks for holidays, which I’ll let you know about). Our first session will be on Friday 20th October 2023.

Location:

The sessions will be held at Brockenhurst Methodist Church Hall, Avenue Road, Brockenhurst SO42 7RT. You’ll find the church hall entrance to the left of the main church building.

Getting there:

There are a few parking spaces in front and to both sides of the church, but you can also park for free on the road in front. The church hall is also just a few minutes walk from Brockenhurst railway station (via the gate at the back of the station carpark).

Cost:

£3 per person, which includes free tea/coffee and biscuits.

Get in touch:

I’m very happy to answer any questions you might have, and it would also be really helpful if you could let me know if you are planning to come along (so I can make sure I bring enough song-sheets, and most importantly, biscuits!) Thank you!

Session times

Fridays, 2-3.30pm. First session 20/10/23.
