Choir in a Week | Falmouth University, Cornwall

20 Jul 2026—24 Jul 2026

Non-residential

Falmouth University Academy of Music and Theatre Arts

Immerse yourself in a creative week of unaccompanied harmony singing in Cornwall, led by Jane Harris, Director of Songways, and Pip Wright, Kana Kernow, a singing leader, teacher and community musician based in West Cornwall, in professional-standard facilities.

This is a wonderful opportunity to sing at the Academy of Music and Theatre Arts at the University of Falmouth, at Geevor Tin Mine and at the St Just Miners’ Chapel. The course offers a memorable week, with insights into Cornish culture, links to the places where we sing, opportunities to be creative and playful, tips for healthy voice use and effective choral vocal technique, and a chance to take part in a ‘scratch band’ and experience a Nos Lowen (a Cornish Ceilidh).

Pip and Jane have co-led this course at Falmouth since summer 2025 as well as leading successful singing events at venues such as Halsway Manor and Buckfast Abbey. They both compose for choirs, play the fiddle, love collaborating and have a special musical bond. They bring inclusive joy and a rich breadth and depth of experience to all their teaching and music-making.

“Truly extraordinary complementary double act of leaders”
“Jane and Pip complement each other so well… the double fiddles are a special touch”

“As an FE English Lecturer myself, I can give Pip & Jane ‘outstanding’ in every way. Their style is humorous, firm and patient. Sessions are varied and very creative”

New for 2026, you’ll also have the chance to sing in Falmouth University’s music studio using our new immersive audio system. During two optional afternoon workshops we’ll experiment with immersive singing using spatial audio in our state-of-the-art facilities, taught by Pip and Jane and supported by our technical team at AMATA. These workshops will be playful, immersive experiences where you can sing and also be the audience.
