Join Lakeland Voices and friends for a Saturday afternoon of singing songs from the UK and beyond – come and join in, or just listen. Everyone is welcome (“There’s no strangers here, just friends that you never knew.”)
Singers from Lakeland Voices and friends have recently returned from Slovenia where they sang on the train across Continental Europe, and in different parts of the country alongside other Slovenian singers and choirs – including and especially from Sedbergh’s twin town, Zrece.
The event is free. Free word booklets can be sent by email if you get in touch first – and there are free recordings of the tunes and harmonies on SoundCloud (David Burbidge) The event coincides with World Music Day and the Kendal Folk and Jazz festival.
There is also a concert in Brigflatts Quaker Meeting house in Sedbergh on Wednesday June 25 at 6pm to celebrate Slovenia Statehood Day and 20 years of town twinning between Sedbergh and Zrece, and the more recent twinning between the Lake District and Triglav National Parks – with Lakeland Voices and Bentham Voices community choirs.
The concert is free (although donations to the Brigflatts charities are requested) – and there is free Slovenian Jota stew for supper. All welcome.
