Songs of Nature

29 Aug 2025—31 Aug 2025

Residential

Hawkwood neat Stroud

Sing stunning harmony songs inspired by the natural world in an amazing location.

Immerse yourself in gorgeous songs with lyrics by poets whose writing is inspired by nature. A treat of a heartwarming weekend of singing inside these poems while creating beauty within the rich and wild harmonies of Helen’s vocal music. Weather depending, there will opportunities to go outside and sing in the beautiful environment that surrounds Hawkwood. It’s a unique environment, with good food.

This workshop is for those who love to sing in harmony and are at ease blending the timbre of their voice with others, listening and balancing volumes as well as singing in tune. It is for choir members, community choir leaders and for those who love small group singing. Some participants may wish to add some of these songs to their choir or small group repertoire.

There is no pressure to sing one voice to a part, but if you wish to, occasionally we will hear a song sung by a small group to hear more clearly the way the parts weave together. The texts of the songs are inspiring and sometimes magical. In moments through the weekend Helen will speak briefly about each writer and how their song came to be composed. When a song has more lyrics or is a little longer, Helen will provide scores for those who wish but there is no need to be able to read music. Scores will enable us to cover more songs over the weekend, but each part will be gone through separately.

Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in and soft shoes. For outdoors please bring boots, waterproofs if needed, and a water bottle. Please also bring a pen or pencil and a notebook.

Event time: 4pm on 29th August 2025 until 4pm on 31st August.
