Description

A new harmony singing group in Lostwithiel for people who love to sing acapella.

You’re welcome however confident or otherwise you are with your singing voice.  Whether you’re a regular singer or have never sung with other people before, the sessions will be warm, joyful and playful.

There will be a short break – please bring your own water and/or flask for hot drinks.

The pilot sessions are offered on a pay-what-you-can basis.  It is anticipated that the choir will resume on January 8th 2026.

FAQs
  • I usually only sing in the shower or the car… is that ok?  Absolutely! When I first tried community singing, I hadn’t sung with other people since school. Come and discover the joys of blending your voice with other people’s.
  • I can’t read music.  No problem. We’ll mostly be learning by ear (i.e. repeating by call and response), and usually fairly simple songs.
  • Will I feel comfortable in the choir?  I aim for the choir to be inclusive and welcoming to absolutely everyone.
  • Will we be performing?  Performance isn’t our raison d’etre. We might work towards some informal sharing with friends & family and the local community but there will never be any pressure to perform.
  • Is the venue accessible?  There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor, but the room itself is upstairs on the first floor, so unfortunately not accessible for people whose mobility is limited. People who can manage domestic stairs should be ok.
  • What about parking?  There is parking for the community centre adjacent to the building, including a disabled parking space. There is also limited parking at the Old Cattle Market and on-street in town. If possible, please travel sustainably. If you’re coming by car, please consider lift-sharing. The mainline station at Lostwithiel is a 5-minute walk away.
  • What is “world music”?  Folk songs sung in any language except English. Horribly Anglo-centric, but I don’t know another phrase that describes it better…
  • Any other questions?  Please get in touch!
