Additional information

The Presence Effect Choir is my contribution to fostering a kinder, more compassionate world by creating a space where people from all walks of life can come together to connect to the moment and each other through song. Amidst significant life challenges, loss, burnout, and my journey into motherhood I found a deep peace whilst practicing presence and an idea for an organisation and singing together in presence began to form.

I have 20 years experience leading creative and wellbeing workshops with people from diverse backgrounds mainly individuals often unheard, including those seeking asylum and refugees, people on probation, people with serious health issues, children and adults with additional needs, people in end of life care, in hospitals, in care homes, in acute mental health wards and from new borns all the way to people over 100 year olds.

I have a Master’s in Composition from Leeds Conservatoire- and have released two EPs and an album and perform across the UK. My work expands roles such as Associate Music Theatre Lecturer at Edge Hill University, Musical Director for Bradford Friendship Choir, and composer-performer for early years productions like “Lullaby Lane” at Half Moon Theatre.

The Presence Effect Choir
Description

The Presence Effect Choir is a welcoming and inclusive space for anyone who wants to sing, connect, and be more present — no experience necessary! Whether you’re new to choir or a seasoned singer, this is a space for joy, fun, and community.

We will sing music shaped by what you and the group love, pop music and music from many genres! Uplifting and meaningful songs from world music traditions. Some in English, others in different languages. Songs from circle singing and original compositions.

Key ways in which singing with The Presence Effect Choir can boost your wellbeing:

  • Reduces stress and anxiety through calming breath and voice work
  • Enhances emotional regulation by connecting with present-moment awareness
  • Promotes mental clarity and reduces overthinking
  • Boosts mood through endorphin release from singing
  • Supports mindfulness practice in a joyful, embodied way
  • Improves breathing and lung capacity through vocal technique
  • Lowers blood pressure and heart rate via relaxed, meditative singing
  • Supports nervous system regulation through rhythmic and harmonic resonance
