Embodied voice; singing for wellbeing; 3-4 part harmonies with comforting and uplifting themes
Nina is a songleader with a multidisciplinary approach. Her classes draw on her extensive experience in dance and somatic practices, weaving together movement and embodied voice techniques in a body-focused approach to the voice. She trained as a natural voice leader with Frankie Armstrong, and her approach is heavily influenced by training and mentoring from Kristin Linklater-trained physical theatre ensemble Company of Wolves, and other teachers of the Linklater method. Her approach is further informed by doctoral research into the aesthetics of ritual, and a personal interest in understanding and tapping into the power of collective creative ritual.
Singing class for adults with additional support needs, delivered for Cosgrove Care. In this class we get our bodies moving and our voices sounding to give it our all as we learn fun new songs (building gradually towards rounds and harmonies), explore rhythms with shakers and other noise-makers, and star in karaoke performances!
If you or someone you know might want to join us, get in touch with Cosgrove Care at care@cosgrovecare.org.uk or call 0141 680 2500.
Mondays 1-3pm
This class focuses on connecting to the voice as part of the body. These sessions include movement improvisation – moving from sensation and imagination – and somatic work, to ground ourselves and centre our awareness in the body. We work with the breath and vibrations that make up our unique sound, using embodied voice techniques to wake up the voice from within, working towards singing in harmony and vocal improvisation.
This is an accessible class for anyone wanting to find/re-find/nurture their voice in a supportive, judgement-free space. All bodies and voices are welcome.
