Heartfelt Harmony Choir is starting on Wednesday 26th February at Sutton Hall Stockcross, Newbury
I have been a member of the Natural Voice Network since 2010, which was around the time that I started to co-lead a choir called Sing The World. I’m now setting up a new choir ‘Heartfelt Harmony’, it will be weekly on a Wednesday evening. Sharing songs, harmonies and wonderful words bring a creative side to my life that uplifts me and I know that choir members will feel uplifted too.
I’ve loved singing with others from an early age, at primary school we sang every day in assembly and I was also in the church choir in the village I grew up in.
Life got busy for a while but the passion was re-kindled in my late twenties, when I got together with a group of friends in Newbury to share songs for the love of it. We also performed locally at birthdays and at other events such as Green Party and Friends of the Earth gatherings. We eventually grew in number and hired a hall to sing in; we also hired a Natural Voice Practitioner from Oxford to lead the group. My portfolio of songs gradually grew from attending this and many other workshops and singing camps all over England and I gained in confidence by occasionally leading songs in this earlier group from about 2004.
I believe that singing is something that everyone can join in with and that it is beneficial to health and well being to sing regularly. I have thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful singing communities that I have been part of. And of course the wonderful Natural Voice Network that I am part of. I am looking forward to beginning my new choir community.
Heartfelt Harmony, is a new singing group. We are meeting weekly on Wednesdays – the dates for the first half term are:
26th February, 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th March and the 2nd April
Songs will be taught by ear, so there is no need to read music. There will be simple songs in 3 or 4 part harmony and rounds too, often with a nature or nurturing theme, that we can learnt quickly so that harmonies can be enjoyed straight. Some will be longer and built up over several weeks. We will sing songs from near and far to ground, connect and inspire us all in wonderful a capella harmony.
Wednesday evenings in term time 7.30pm - 9 pm
