Additional information

I have had a wonderful 22 years running acapella choirs and workshops in many settings and situations with an open and inclusive atmosphere. The emphasis is on enjoying the sessions and there are opportunities for occasional performances for those that want to. We usually teach songs by ear in harmony parts with a leader in each group and then join together to sing the songs. This makes for speedy learning!

My choirs

Swindon Community Choir
Description

Swindon Community Choir was started in 2000 as the Swindon Scratch Choir in the hayloft at Lower Shaw Farm, West Swindon, by Linda Lee.  Linda had a dream to create a real community choir in Swindon – an all-inclusive choir that anyone could join to experience the joy of singing with others in spine-tingling harmony!

How many people were told as a child at school that they couldn’t sing?  We set out to prove this wrong!  Singing is good for our mental and physical health and creates a sense of belonging to a community.

We teach the songs in 2, 3 or 4 part harmony, taught simultaneously by three or four song leaders in small groups.  You choose which group your voice is most comfortable with.  When the parts have been taught, everyone gets back together to sing the complete song and make a fantastic sound.

We sing mainly for the joy and fun of it, and we do occasional performances that people join in if they want – no obligation!

Session times

Alternate Monday evenings, 7.15 to 8.45pm

The Cowshed Singers
Description

The Cowshed Singers are a friendly and informal group who meet on Tuesday afternoons at Lower Shaw Farm.  The emphasis is on singing lovely harmony songs simply for enjoyment of singing together.

We sing a variety of songs – pop, folk, gospel, world songs and more – so something for every taste.  A relaxed approach focused on singing for pleasure – no experience needed, no auditions and ability to read music not necessary.

Session times

Alternate Tuesday afternoons 3-4pm
