Leading community choirs, singing walks and singing holidays

Additional information

I currently lead 3  community choirs, two in Somerset and one in Devon. Every year I teach at the Unicorn voice camp and lead/co-lead at The Whitsun Voice Camp in Dorset  – adults and teenagers.

I love leading singing holidays, and have so far led groups of gorgeous singers in the Alps, Tuscany, Morocco and Lefkada (Greece).

I also offer one-to-one singing lessons for adults and young people, and lead singing walks and group singing at celebratory events.

I am known for my energetic and inclusive approach to singing and vocal exploration. I do my best to be a sensitive facilitator and have been told my style is relaxed, affirming and fun. I have  a particular passion for African and Eastern European harmonies.

What others say:

  • ‘Claire shares herself when she invites us to sing and somehow this breaks down barriers and inhibitions. We find our voices and they sound fantastic! She also leads the way to move as we sing so that we are experiencing the music and the shared joy of it through our physicality from head to toe – it feels good. I come away energised, somehow empowered and always smiling.’ – Sally
  • ‘I am always amazed at the beautiful sounds we can create by the end of the sessions when everything comes together.  You are a patient teacher and good at encouraging people.’ – Naomi

My choirs

Sandford Sings
Description

We are a fun and frolicsome community choir based in Sandford (near Crediton), meeting on Wednesday evenings. We sing songs in sweet acapella from folk to gospel, pop and world music harmonies. There are around 30 of us and we are lucky to have a strong male contingent…6 male tenors and 4 basses!  We are very sociable and go the Lamb Inn after choir, and we often sing there too! We do perform for some local charity events but above all sing just for the joy of singing. Do come and try us out – the first session is free to try!

Session times

Wednesday evenings 7.30 - 9.15pm
