Additional information

I have been part of the Shylarks  (Old Trafford)  Teaching Team since 2007 and began to develop my song-leading skills under the expert guidance of fellow NVN member Faith Watson.  Since 2013 I’ve led Bury (later Prestwich) ‘Singing for Fun’ and over the years I’ve also led Sing at the  Met (Bury), Bury Acapeelers (as deputy MD),  Quarternotes choir in Manchester, and Urmston U3A Choir

I have also led one-off/fund-raising workshops (for Water Aid), as well as for Christmas and other festivals at my local church (St John’s) in Old Trafford.

I believe singing can be a profoundly spiritual experience without having to be ‘religious’ and my workshops are open to all, featuring a range of song styles, fun rounds and gentle meditative songs. I try to make my singers feel relaxed and have been told I’m a very patient teacher!

Singing for Fun Prestwich
Description

Formerly known as  ‘Bury Singing for Fun’, we meet once a month for 3 hours on Sunday mornings in Prestwich, to sing acapella songs in 3 or 4 part harmony, learning our songs ‘by ear’, and singing a wide repertoire of songs. There is no audition and no one is asked to sing on their own.
We are not a performance choir, we sing for the love of the sound. Group numbers vary but we average about 13 singers every month, and would welcome new members to join us – no experience needed.

Session times

3rd Sunday of the month*, from 10am to 1pm - with 30 minute tea break
* please check dates as sessions sometimes take place on other Sundays for practical reasons
