Additional information

I was brought up around the wonderful world of Community Choirs. Somewhere between the voice camps, community singing days, and performances, I fell in love. Many of us who long for a sense of belonging, connection, and a way of relating with others that is harmonious and non-hierarchical, have found this in choirs and singing communities, and I feel very blessed to have been given the skills to hold these spaces.

Lessons for adults
Adults often come to me because they long to discover, or reconnect with their singing voices. We come singing into the world with our first cry, and in a healthy culture, we’d all sing till the end.
I won’t teach you how to sing in a specific way. I will introduce you to the anatomy and the mechanics of your own voice, and show you the creative control you have within that voice. Singing is not a mystery! It is an instrument with defined elements that can be understood and mastered.

Lessons for kids
When working with kids, my main aim is to get them to fall in love with music. We use songwriting to learn about chords, melody, and singing. I’ve found that songwriting is a great way into music, it offers a sense of ownership, and they are much more likely to practice! And I have never met a child in my 17 years of teaching that isn’t a natural songwriter.

Qualifications
BA Ethnomusicology from SOAS, accredited CPD Teacher Development with AOTOS (Association of Teachers of Singing), 2 teacher trainings with the NVN, Facilitation Training with the Open University. Previous employees include Wren Music, Talking in Tune, SOAS, Academy of Music Exeter, WOMAD and Voice Camp.
