Outdoor singing / Short-course performance projects / Pop Choir / Drop-in choirs
Join me to make something beautiful. Sing with me in a small group under a bridge in the dark. Or sing pop on stage with me and a hundred people wearing sequins. Sing around the fire in the evening with me. Or bring your new baby to sing lullabies with me and room full of Mamas. Sing with me weekly or occasionally. Join me for a short course performance project, or a one-off session. Bring your feelings.
Do you live or work in Halifax? Do you enjoy singing in harmony with others? Do you fancy singing in a GLORIOUS venue during your lunch hour?
The Calderdale Council Choir has opened its doors to the community and is no longer just for Council employees. We’re a small, women’s choir, singing a cappella arrangements of folk songs, pop songs, and carols.
We rehearse inside the beautiful Minster and thank them each year by performing at events such as the Minster Christmas Tree Festival, the Community Carol Service and the Festival of Women.
All our learning is done by ear, there are no auditions and you don’t need to read music. Singers pay £45 for a 10 week block.
Please do drop in and meet us on any Wednesday. We rarely have a week off but it’s a good idea to email me beforehand just to check there’s not been a cancellation for any reason.
Looking forward to singing with you.
Liz
Wednesdays 1pm - 2pm
Love singing in harmony, but don’t enjoy going out in the evenings?
Then MAWS is the answer!
We’re a lunchtime choir with over 30 members, singing unaccompanied songs in 3 part harmony, all taught by ear. There are no auditions and no need to read music.
The women range in age from their 30s to their 80s, and no previous experience is required. Sessions are £5, paid weekly in cash.
We love singing beautifully-arranged folk songs and sometimes pop songs, and we work hard to create a rewarding sound.
We give performances to our friends and family at Christmas and in the summertime, but nobody has to perform if they don’t want to.
Sessions run on Mondays from 1pm – 2pm at Baildon Link, and you’re most welcome to come along and give it a go, at any time.
Looking forward to singing with you.
Liz
P.S. We rarely have a week off, but do email me before your first session just to check there’s not been a cancellation for any reason.

Oi! Fancy a SING?
Like the idea of joining a choir but can’t commit to weekly sessions?
Enjoy singing with others but can’t find the time to come out in the evenings?
Fancy a spot of harmony singing but don’t want the pressure of performing?
No problem!
Silsden’s Secret Singers meet on Thursday mornings. We sing for ourselves, we don’t perform, it doesn’t matter if you can’t come every week, there’s no homework, no audition, no need to read music, and there’s no requirement to pay for a block of sessions. It couldn’t be simpler, but do you know what? It’s JOYFUL.
Join us at the community room next to the church (look for the door with the ramp). Sessions are £7, please bring cash. This is a mixed choir; all voices are welcome, no experience required.
Looking forward to singing with you soon,
Liz xx
