I run 6 choirs in the Highlands and Moray.  I trained in theatre/voice and movement at Dartington College of Arts, and have over 40 years’ experience as a drama teacher, theatre practitioner,  healer, musician and choir leader.

My focus is on the healing qualities of  the voice and singing together, as well as performance. I recently trained in Singing for lung health and Qi Gong and I like to specialise in the use of the breath.

I use songs from around the world, as well as creative vocal improvisation.

Black Isle Acappella
Description

An open access community harmony singing group in its 7th year, with 12-16 members. Friendly, supportive. learning by ear. We meet in various people’s homes and always have tea and good conversation afterwards.
Our repertoire spans folk, world music, gospel and contemporary compositions, and we love Ali Burns and Helen Yeomans songs.

Just Sing
Description

We recognise the importance of singing together in a group and how beneficial the creative and social aspects are to you while still having lots of fun!

Just Sing is a mixed voice a cappella (voices only) harmony singing group where you’ll learn uplifting songs from around the world.

The repertoire of music learned spans gospel, traditional folk, pop, world music as well as inspirational contemporary compositions. In addition to learning a variety of songs, the group includes breathing and voice exercises to help develop the power quality and range of the voice. The emphasis is on learning by ear for simple songs and written music can be used for the more complex arrangements.

This class is suitable for all levels of experience and confidence.

Sing for Parkinson’s
Description

A group for people with Parkinson’s and other long term conditions, their friends and carers. We always start with a few Qi Gong exercises for health and wellbeing, and there is a focus on breathing and fun. and strengthening the voice.
We love gospel and African songs in particular, but also sing old standards, old pop and anything we like, mostly in 2-part harmony but sometimes 3.

Sing for Peace
Description

Raise our voices together in simple songs/chants, both sacred and secular, from many different religions, and none. We sing to create harmony, joy and peace. All welcome.

Women With Wings
Description

A small women’s singing group for slightly more confident singers. Learning by ear, acappella harmonies – world music, folk, inspirational songs, FUN!
