Community choirs, 1:1 singing lessons, breathing issues, dementia choirs
I am a singer and music teacher working in primary and secondary schools throughout the county of East Sussex. I teach singing, ukulele, recorder and percussion.
I am a trained opera singer, but love singing all types of music including jazz, pop and multicultural music.
I run two community choirs – Battle Community Singers and Wadhurst Aloud – as well as various school choirs. During the Covid pandemic I ran an online choir called Vocal Uplift that helped Long Covid sufferers with breathing issues. I run a choir for people with dementia in Etchingham called Music for the Memory.
We are a happy friendly bunch of singers who sing an extensive range of music including pop, music from the African continent, folk, show tunes and spirituals. We do read music, but we can help you if you need it. We are a community-based group, from the community and singing for the community, led by Ailsa Vinson. We offer you a warm welcome and lots of laughter!
Wednesday 7-9pm
We offer free weekly singing sessions to people who are living with memory issues or feeling isolated. We welcome carers and older people. We sing for an hour and then reward ourselves with a chocolate biscuit and tea or coffee!
Tuesday 2:30pm
We are a friendly small choir for Long Covid Sufferers, supporting people suffering from COPD, fatigue, breathlessness and pulmonary disease. We meet on zoom on Tuesday afternoons. We do gentle physical and vocal warm-ups and breathing exercises, and sing simple songs and practise meditation. We always have a chat at the end to give tips for best recovery. We have been awarded grant funding for one year by the National Lottery. Come and give us a go!
Tuesday 2-3pm
We are a happy friendly group of 40 + singers from the village of Wadhurst and surrounding villages. We sing at events around the county and country. No auditions are necessary, but we do sing from music. We usually sing in soprano, alto and lower parts. Come and join us for some fun singing and laughter!
