Additional information

My name is Emily Hannah and for the last few years I have been running two lovely, friendly community choirs in North London. I also lead Singing Walks in the local area.

I am a lifelong singer and cellist and setting up the two singing groups was a long time coming, delayed as it was by the pandemic. Both groups have become a highlight of my life as a musician. The music I play and sing as a musician has spanned many genres – Irish and Scottish folk, trip hop, rock, punk, pop, reggae, funk and blues. There is very little music I do not like. This is reflected in my singing groups.

We do a wide range of music from different corners of the globe. Many of the songs we do are written and/or arranged by the fabulous songwriters within the Natural Voice Network. I usually do at least one well known popular song each term. I am delighted by how a lovely community has sprung up with each group. They are both very warm and welcoming. Inclusivity and acceptance are essential. My aim is always to encourage and nurture the different voices in my groups, drawing together different people in glorious harmony. It is a real joy seeing people find their voice and gain confidence.

The Bell Tower Singers are based in the magical St Mary’s Tower in Crouch End/Hornsey. This is a very unique space, a lone bell tower amidst gardens and an old graveyard. The acoustic is beautiful.

The Hampstead Singers are based in the vestry (and on occasion the church itself) in the glorious Christ Church, Hampstead, where as it happens I sang my first ever solo at a primary school concert. Its a lovely space with, again, a great acoustic.

I started doing Singing Walks a year or so ago. I really love singing outdoors, immersed in nature. I love finding spaces with lovely acoustics to lead singers to and fill with beautiful sounds.

My choirs

Hampstead Singing Group
Description

The Hampstead Singing Group is a warm, inclusive, mixed ability choir of between 10 and 16 people. We do a wide range of songs from around the globe, some written &/or arranged by people who are part of the Natural Voice Network.  We usually do at least one well known pop sing per term, as well as many other fun, beautiful, moving songs.

We are a very friendly choir, and there is no need to be able to read music. We are lucky enough to sing in the vestry at Christ Church Hampstead, which is a great space with a gorgeous acoustic within a beautiful church that sits on one of the highest points in London; the spire can be seen for miles around. All are welcome.
