Additional information

I’ve been running community choirs for the last fifteen years or so.  I taught music in primary schools but became interested in working with adults when I took part in the SingUp training with Sian Croose in Norfolk and Suffolk. I love encouraging people to sing who have maybe not had a chance to do so before or for whom singing was something they were told they couldn’t do.  The choirs I run are very welcoming and good fun.  We work hard as both of them are performing choirs, but everyone is very supportive and any newcomers are given lots of help to learn the material.

Halesworth Harmony
Description

Halesworth Community Choir have re-launched ourselves as Halesworth Harmony. We sing an eclectic mix of music from a variety of traditions in three- or four-part harmony, and we are also fortunate to have worked with, and commissioned, contemporary British composers.

We are a friendly and supportive choir, welcoming all singers without an audition. There is no need to be able to read music – songs are taught by ear and recordings are available for home practice. We perform locally at a range of community events and also organise our own concerts at The Cut Arts Centre in Halesworth and at other local venues, sometimes in collaboration with other choirs or musical groups.

The choir meets approximately fortnightly on Sunday mornings, usually at The Cut. There is an interval to chat and make new friends.

We are actively seeking more members to join us to learn a new programme of songs for a concert next year. Rehearsals start on Sunday morning 24th September, at The Cut; dates for the rest of the term are October 1st and 22nd (10.30–4.00), November 5th and 19th, December 3rd and 10th. We look forward to welcoming you to a free taster session!

Village Voices
Description

Village Voices is an open access community choir where hopefully we:

  • Create a safe place for our singing voices to be explored and heard in an accepting and non-judgemental environment.
  • Make sure no-one feels excluded if they don’t read music, but equally using sheet music for those that want to.
  • Build confidence in ourselves as singers and performers.
  • Make the best and most beautiful sound and music that we can.
  • Enjoy ourselves.
