Sing Your Way

Location

Petersfield, Hampshire

Description

We are not a choir but an informal and friendly group which meets on the first and third Sundays of each month. There’s no requirement to come every time, it’s fine to drop in when you can. We sing songs you may well know already, seasonal songs and simple rounds, folk songs and songs inspired by nature/culture.

No experience necessary, no audition, no sheet music, no pressure, no commitment, no such thing as a wrong note, just a space for us to get together and sing (or hum, or tap). Singing together can reduce stress, lift the mood and cultivate a sense of community and connection. We are an open and inclusive group, whatever your age, sound, background, identity or experience, you are welcome.

The singing sessions last for one hour and are free of charge (donations towards room hire and running costs are welcome but optional). It’s fine to move around or stop and listen or harmonise or improvise – anything goes.

Please ask me if there’s anything more you want to know. I’m also involved with Creative Voices for Peace which holds events in Hampshire at which people of all faiths and none share songs, music, chants, poems and other cultural forms of expression, with the aim of bringing us closer together and promoting peace.
