Bild-Werk, Frauenau, a unique and special Arts Centre specialising in glass making, is in the hills of Bavaria, Southern Germany.

Frauenau is a little hillside town that grew up around the hand manufacture of glass. Many shops down the high street display glass treasures, including an exceptional Glass Museum. Bild-Werk Arts Centre is housed in some of the beautiful vernacular buildings – enormous wooden buildings with expansive tiled roofs – that were formerly used for glass blowing. While painters, glass makers, puppeteers and sculptors busily work at their projects, we singers do our thing in the aural space around them.  It is a truly unique atmosphere.

Candy has been teaching at Bild-Werk for 23 years now, and many singers return for another dose of what has been called the ‘Candy Singers’. We sing songs in harmony from many lands, experiment, improvise and play, as well as work on the quality of our singing. Over the week, we’ll learn a body of songs that in the afternoons we can take with us and sing out in the magnificent landscape around. We’ll walk, sing, and stop at beautiful old churches, both in Bavaria and in Czech Republic not so far away. The quality and atmosphere of Bild-Werk, including the other artists, greatly enhance our week. A magical blend of art fusion is developed over the week; people never forget their Bild-Werk experience.
