Find a choir or singing group

On this page you can search for a choir or singing group by its name or by location.

If you are searching in the UK, click on “By location” and select “United Kingdom”, and you will then be able to narrow down your search by postcode. Alternatively you can zoom in on the map.

If you are searching for a choir outside the UK, you will be able to search by country.

Then click on the button to initiate the search. You will then get an outline of the choirs and singing groups which match your search and you’ll be able to view full details. Please use these to contact any choirs that you’re interested in.

If you need to contact the NVN, rather than an individual choir, you can do so by emailing admin@naturalvoice.net

Plymouth Community Choir

Location

Plymouth Unitarian Church, Notte St, Plymouth, PL1 2HG

Description

Plymouth Community Choir are a small, friendly, Natural Voice choir who have been meeting in Plymouth for over 20 years. We sing music from a wide variety of genres, in 3- and 4- part harmony.

There are no auditions, and everything is taught by ear – you don’t need to be able to read music or be an experienced singer. Each session starts with a solid vocal warm-up with musical exercises to help you build your confidence, and you’ll have access to recordings to help you practise between sessions.

We currently perform twice a year, in the winter and the summer (with the occasional smaller performance here and there). Performing is optional but encouraged. Newcomers are welcome towards the start of terms and later by arrangement.

Portobello Community Choir

Location

Portobello, Edinburgh

Description

We are an open community choir – everyone is welcome and all songs are taught by ear. We sing a wide variety of songs that help us joyfully connect with ourselves, each other and both the natural and social world around us. We organise a wassail each January at the Donkeyfield Community Orchard where we sing to the trees. We sing songs that bring us joy, celebrate life events, the natural world and the turning of the seasons. We have also sung at funerals and celebrations of choir members. We are aware of the deep inequalities in the world and of the climate challenges we face – we connect with these issues through song and aim to make a difference.

The choir often takes part in a few events or performances each year, chosen with choir members’ agreement. There is no pressure on individuals to take part in any event. Any money made from events is donated to a charity/charities chosen by choir members and used to subsidise places at choir for those on a low income.
