Additional information

Hello! I’ve been leading groups in harmony singing for over 20 years, in a variety of settings. My passion is facilitating safe and friendly spaces where people can feel free to express themselves. I aim to keep a good balance of accessibility and challenge in my events. There are no auditions and no need to read music at any of my groups or events.

As well as LOVING creating a beautiful sound, I am also passionate about singing as a tool for personal wellbeing, as well as as a group exercise, as a model of ways in which groups can work together to create something harmonious from several apparently discordant positions

I have great faith in the power of song as a tool for activism and run pop up Singing for the Earth events at green events, eco fairs, alongside Extinction Rebellion actions and sometimes purely as an intentional way of honouring the natural world.

Participant feedback:

“Good mix of songs in terms of origin, style, feel, difficulty.”
“The pace of teaching [was] excellent and sensitive.”
“A musical extravaganza of amazing harmonies; relaxing, funny, heartwarming, spiritual with a small ‘s’ – fantastic.”

Taize Sessions
Description

We learn and sing songs from Taize every week, usually in the Lady Chapel in the Cathedral but sometimes at St John’s Church (by the amphitheatre). See website for full location list.

We also hold Taize services periodically.

We sing the beautiful songs from the Taize community in 2, 3 and 4 part harmony, with no accompaniment. There are music books available but all songs are taught by ear so you don’t need to read music to participate.

A suggested donation of £10 to cover the leader’s costs is welcome but not obligatory. There is an honesty box out at each session. You are welcome to join us to sing regardless of ability to pay.
