The Magnificent AKs

Location

The White Hart, High Road, Ashton Keynes, Swindon SN6 6NX

Description

The Magnificent AKs are the singing blokes of Ashton Keynes and have been performing together since 2008. We like to celebrate the inner life of the ordinary bloke and consequently have songs about sheds, toolkits, beards and male health as well as local folk songs about our forefathers.

We meet in a pub, like a beer and most definitely do not take ourselves too seriously – although many people seem to like what we do. We aim to perform a dozen or so times a year in venues from village halls to nightclubs, music festivals, carnivals and festive celebrations. We raise money for a number of charities, often associated with men’s health.

Session times

Rehearsals are sporadic, based on upcoming performances - usually on Wednesday evenings.

The Orchard Community Choir

Location

The Spark Space, Bethesda Church, 138A Church Rd, Redfield, Bristol BS5 9HH

Description

The Orchard Choir have been bringing together voices from all walks of life in Bristol, since 2018, creating something magical through the simple act of singing together. Through seasonal songs and harmonies both old and new, they weave together community, nature, and the pure pleasure of making music.

We’re a friendly community choir in Redfield in Bristol who meet every Tuesday evening to connect through singing. We sing gorgeous harmony songs in 2/3/4 parts in a range of genres and styles. All songs are taught by ear so that even non music readers can join.

Everyone is welcome  – those who sing from the rooftops, to those who normally only sing in the shower.

We perform a couple of times a year to share what we’ve been up to but are more focused on enjoying the act of singing itself.

Check us out on Facebook and Instagram!
